This iconic trek follows the Braldu River up to the Baltoro Glacier, a 65 km-long highway of ice, leading to Concordia, the heart of the Karakoram.

Trek Highlights

From Skardu we drive to Askole, where our team of porters prepare load for the trek. On the first few stages we cross the snout of the Biafo Glacier, and negotiate the narrow trails above the Braldu River, before ascending the lateral moraine to the Baltoro Glacier. Ascending the glacier we gain unrivalled views of the Karakoram. With the option of stopping at non-traditional campsites wherever possible, we move along the surrounding rock spires, granite towers. Occasionally on and off the Baltoro Glacier itself, we reach Concordia, from where we have the most spectacular view of some of the World’s greatest giants like K2 (8616m), Broad Peak (8048m), Gasherbrum II (8035m), Gasherbrum IV (7925m), Chogolisa (7665m) and Golden Throne (7240m) and everything down the Baltoro Valley.

Day 1: Arrival in Islamabad

  • Land in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital.
  • Transfer to hotel & trek briefing.
  • Explore local attractions (Faisal Mosque, Pakistan Monument).

  • Fly to Skardu or drive to Chilas if the flight is canceled.

Day 3: Skardu Exploration or Chilas to Skardu Drive

  • Free day in Skardu or complete road journey.

Day 4: Drive to Askole (3,050m)

  • Drive to Askole, the last village before the trek begins.
  • Camp overnight in tents.

Day 5: Trek from Askole to Jhola (3,200m)

  • Trek begins with a gentle ascent towards Jhola.
  • Camp overnight in tents.

Day 6: Trek from Jhola to Paiyu (3,666m)

  • Trek along the Braldu River, with views of Paiyu Peak.
  • Camp overnight in tents.

Day 7: Acclimatization & Exploration Day at Paiyu

  • Rest and explore Paiyu to adjust to the altitude.
  • Camp overnight in tents.

Day 8: Trek from Paiyu to Khuburtze (4,000m)

  • Begin the steep ascent towards Khuburtze.
  • Camp overnight in tents.

Day 9: Trek from Khuburtze to Urdukas (4,200m)

  • Continue along the Baltoro Glacier with stunning views of Trango Towers.
  • Camp overnight in tents.

Day 10: Trek from Urdukas to Goro II (4,350m)

  • Trek across the glacier, getting closer to K2 and Broad Peak.
  • Camp overnight in tents.

Day 11: Trek from Goro II to Concordia (4,650m)

  • Arrive at Concordia, the heart of the Karakoram with 360° views of giant peaks.

Day 14: Trek from Concordia to Beyonge

  • Begin the descent back from Concordia.
  • Camp overnight in tents.

  • Continue trekking along glacial moraines.
  • Camp overnight in tents.

Day 16: Trek from Khuburtze to Paiyu

  • Retrace the path back to Paiyu.
  • Camp overnight in tents.

Day 16: Trek to Hisper Village

  • Enter the green pastures of Hisper Valley.

Day 17: Trek from Paiyu to Jhola

  • Descend through lush green valleys.
  • Camp overnight in tents..

  • Complete the final trekking day, reaching Askole.

  • Scenic drive along the Karakoram Highway.
